花间（among flowers）
2021
In Chinese poetry we use the word ‘花间 to mean in among flowers, and I combined the words ‘花’ and ‘间’
and created a conceptual video that shows the idea of travelling among flowers.

THE SIDE
2023
The work was inspired by the traditional Chinese story of Confucius, called Three Seasons Man.
Three Seasons Man was changed from a grasshopper and would die in winter, and he believed there were only three seasons in a year. The story made me think about subjective perception's limits and the rules in the world.
I researched and summarised several relevant philosophical theories, films, and books, then sketched them out.
During the process, I found that the fragments that came to my mind were primarily dynamic, a regular cycle with a sense of space. I then logic these fragmented stories into a complete story and depict my understanding of cognitive boundaries in a short animation.
At the end of the animation, the subject chooses to break its original cognition and arrive at the other side, like Truman (the protagonist of the Truman Show), who bravely breaks the existing perceptions, even though the back side of the truth may never be reached.
